In September 2000 I met Peter Maximilian after being referred to him by a well-known language school in
New York City.
Being impressed with his international background and his concept of multi-cultural linguistics,
I decided to take
his LAT course and study the process of language acquisition. Not only did he prepare me for
a successful second
career as a language acquisition teacher, but he also opened my awareness to the use of
language, for good or bad,
in a multi-cultural society and world.
After having spent hundreds of class hours in cultural anthropology and related classes at Cornell University,
I found
Mr. Maximilian's LAT course to be unequivocally the most interesting, eye-opening, and practical
course I have ever taken.
I not only urge language teachers, but all teachers and anyone who wants to improve their cognitive,
communication, and writing skills to take advantage of his courses.

and
subsequently pass the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.

Peter Maximilian is one of my best teachers, educators, and mentors. He has his own style to teach people.
By following his style of educating, a student can very easily learn.
I met with Peter in the end of 1991. He was teaching in a language school at North Miami and I was one
of his students. I was planning to learn English as Second Language since I am an Indonesian. Also
in 1992, I had to enroll in my graduate school at NSU (Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL).
During this period I intended to learn with Peter, especially to prepare my GMAT and learn American Culture
at the same time.
Being a student of ICLA, I had many improvements especially with my English,
my awareness of American Culture, and I passed my GMAT.
While I was attending my graduate school at NSU, I also learned and studied the writing skills at ICLA.
My study at ICLA was very helpful to prepare my assignments at NSU, especially writing assignments.
In June 1994, I graduated from NSU and I earned my MBA.
Now, after almost 16 years I have been meeting with Peter Maximilian, I still practice my English in Indonesia.
I work as an architect and manage several businesses in Jakarta, Indonesia.
I found that my study in ICLA has helped me in many ways and the unique method of teaching by Peter
is very practical and easy for a non-English speaker.
Thank you Peter, Thank you ICLA and all the teachers there.
You and your ICLA have educated me with many and the most interesting experiences of learning.

Having Peter as my English teacher has been one of the most outstanding experiences in my whole academic
career.
I did not learn English. I learnt English within an intercultural, philosophical and anthropological context.
This is a conditio sine qua non in second language acquisition. Not only has this experience enriched my
linguistic background, but it has also enhanced my awareness of the essence of all languages in the world:
The culture of their speakers.

I don't really know how to start because talking about Peter as a person and as a teacher is a long, long story.
On January 3, 2005 I decided to leave my country (by the way I am French) to experience how it feels to be in a
foreign country with people who don't have the same customs, the language, the way of seeing life. So I left
for Florida, USA. Actually for Fort Lauderdale because it's where The Language Academy is. The first week
was very exciting. We (Vanessa and I) had to find a place to live, get accustomed to our new environment
and practised this hard language that English is. But it was the main goal of the trip so we did it.
The first day at TLA was on Monday 10th and it was great to meet all those people from all around the world and
able to create link, relationship and share cultures thanks to English. I thought that I had found more than
I had expected from this trip. But after 3 weeks when the euphoria of the first days was gone, the lack of
my family was really, really difficult. And it's at that moment, when I was thinking that 6 months would not
have been bearable without my people, that Peter talked to me and give me the keys to enjoy every moment of
what I was living. " You have to be enamoured". I didn't understand the first time but he told "you know
this word, listen, enamoured". I didn't want to understand cause at that precise moment all I needed was to
call my mom and cry. It was what I needed before that Peter took 10 minutes of his precious time to make me
understood the meaning of this word. And finally, I got it. You know why? Because Peter has this capacity
to make yourself draw in your knowledge and you do things that you don't even know that you are capable of.
For example, I just wanted to improve my English but I didn't want to take a TOEFL exam. But I did it because
he made my practise on my weakness even when I didn't want and I was so proud to send him my results.
Thank you!
I have to add that, even though we are all unique, he is very unique. I have never met someone like him during
all my trips. I thank God for making my road cross his because what he shared with us, made me think and
see certain things in our world differently and this is a priceless gift that he gave to me.
I stop here but doesn't mean that I have nothing else to say; it's just that shorter is sometimes better.
I hope I did express myself properly, using the right words and if I did it's thanks to TLA's teachers
and thanks to the soul of this academy, Peter.

I have known Peter for over 20 years. I have always been impressed by his sense of duty toward his students,
his passion for teaching, and his work ethic. His belief that students deserve to get the best training
possible has led him to develop a unique and highly effective teaching approach. Based on personal
observation, I have become aware that his students always have described him as dedicated and
highly professional.
I consider Peter one of my closest friends and have great admiration for his achievements in his chosen field.

As a home schooling Mom and having implemented Peter Maximilian's ICLA curriculum as well as having
had the
experience part-time teaching his LAT program, nothing has been more fulfilling for both the
students and
myself than the interaction that takes place within the learning and teaching environment
of multicultural
awareness, and how it applies linguistically while providing a structure that brings out
the best in students.
