March 25, 2002:  THE MORNING AFTER...

One thing is for sure...Jaco is loved beyond the beyond.

IT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!
**** PICTURES HERE! ****

Approximately 1100 caring people showed up at the Melkweg,
filling the place completely up!

Julius and Felix burned, sitting in with
Michel Hatzigeorgiou's band, and then
Felix with the New Cool Collective.
Michel was his beautiful self,
Victor Bailey's bass "sang" a solo.

Jeroen
VJ-ed, and DJ-ed Jaco playing on a large screen,
fading in and out performances.

..then the big surprise...BIG as in
50 bassplayers doing "Portrait of Tracy" in unison,
"perfectly in balance" as reported by Julian de Keijzer...
..."a once in a lifetime experience" says Bas van den Berg!

"I contacted the people at jacotheearlyyears.com asking about
the release and received a prompt reply from Bob Bobbing,
who said the project should be available sometime around April.
It seems like they are working extremely hard on the project
and I think it is going to be worth the wait."

:O)

JANUARY 18, 2002:  UPCOMING RELEASES?

from the desk of Anil Prasad:

Subject: Sony USA Weather Report Plans

Hi everyone,

Hal Miller, the gentleman penning the liner notes
for the forthcoming U.S. Weather Report reissues,
recently got in touch with me. It appears
things are on the move with Sony USA.

Here's what he had to say:

There will be Sony Legacy re-releases of "Mysterious Traveler",
"Tale Spinnin'",& "Black Market" this spring. In addition,
a "best of Weather Report" will be released. None of
these contain any new material just improved mixes.

Negotiations with Joe Zawinul are on process right now
and will probably result in a box set of previously
unreleased studio as well as live concert recordings.

In the last week, Joe Z. has come up with a batch
of excellent Jaco-era tapes and there is now some
discussion about a special Jaco w/Weather Report
release in addition to the other stuff planned.
2002 will be a bonanza year for Weather Report fans.

Good news indeed.
