DECEMBER 30, 2001: PORTRAIT OF JACO CD UPDATE!!!
According to BOB BOBBING:
THE COVER:
As shown above with slight variations.
PACKAGING & CONTENT:
Boxed Set containing 2-CD’s and an oversize 64-page, full-color booklet.
Both CD’s will contain a great deal of never before heard music including many first-of’s and previously unheard originals.
There are also several informative spoken word candid moments with Jaco,
and rare interviews with music industry notables and family members.
Each CD is approximately 74 minutes in length.
WHERE WILL IT BE AVAILABLE?
Through direct-mail order at
JacoTheEarlyYears.com
and JacoPastorius.com.
A deal is now pending to offer 'Portrait' exclusively
through Musician's Friend, co-sponsored by Fender.
It will not be available in stores.
My release agreements with Warner and Sony do not allow it.
WHEN?
It’s my intention to have everything come together around March 1, 2002.
This should allow enough time for the distribution aspects of the release to be locked down
as well as for the promotions, not to mention me finishing the booklet!
DECEMBER 21, 2001: STEPHANIE PASTORIUS
Dearest Stephanie,
you were one of Jaco's favorite women in his life,
more than anything did he want to make you proud of him...
He loved you deeply, and admired your strength raising him and his brothers Gregory and Rory.
I remember how proud he was when you received your award for not missing one day of work in 13 years straight.
You loved to dance, and were often the life of the party..
Felix, Julius and I thank you, and love you.
Please hug Jaco for us...

NOVEMBER 28, 2001:
JACO'S FRETTED ON EBAY
Here is what the listing read:
"JACO'S FENDER 1960 JAZZ BASS
YOU ARE LOOKING AT JACO PASTORIUS' VERY OWN PERSONAL 1960 FENDER JAZZ BASS.
THIS BASS HAS NOT BEEN ALTERED IN ANY WAY SINCE JACO LAST PLAYED IT AT THE SEVENTH AVE SOUTH CLUB IN NY.
THE ONLY THING THAT WAS CHANGED WERE THE STRINGS. A NEW SET OF RS 66 STRINGS WERE ADDED, OLD ONES ARE INCLUDED.
I DID NOT EVEN WIPE HIS SWEAT OF IT AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURES.
THE BASS HAS A REAL DISTINGUISHING MARKING ON THE FRONT UPPER BOUT.
IT SOUNDS TREMENDOUS.
I WAS HOPING THAT JACO WOULD CLEAN UP HIS ACT BUT HE NEVER DID SO
NOW AFTER 17 YEARS OF OWNING THE BASS I AM OFFERING IT FOR SALE.
THE BASS IS NOT CHEAP SO NO TIRE KICKERS PLEASE.
I KNEW JACO PERSONALLY AND HE WAS A BIG INFLUENCE ON ME.
THIS BASS CAN BE VIEWED ON JONI MITCHELLS SHADOWS AND LIGHTS WARNER HOME VIDEO/DVD.
THE FIRST BASS YOU SEE ON THE VIDEO IS THIS ONE.
THE BASS COMES WITH A 1970'S FENDER HARD SHELL CASE AS WELL AS THE JONI MITCHELL VIDEO
AND THE AUGUST 1984 GUITAR PLAYER MAGAZINE FEATURING THE JACO AND THE BASS.
WINNER TO PAY WIRE TRANSFER TO MY BANK ACCOUNT.
MONEY WILL HAVE TO BE IN MY ACCOUNT BEFORE I WILL SHIP.
YOU MUST HAVE A SPOTLESS RECORD WITH NO NEGATIVE FEED BACK AND SELLER HAS THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SALE.
ALL SHIPPING CHARGES ARE THE BUYERS RESPONSIBILITY. PLEASE ASK ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BID.
THANK YOU"
Apparently many friends, fans, and musicians alike, sent the seller an email,
urging him to do the right thing, and give the family another chance to own it.
The seller ended the listing early by posting that the item was no longer available for sale.
The twins and I do not know what happened to it.
The best thing that came out of this was the evidence of caring,
and support through an outpouring by you all,
of suggestions to help,
and raise funds for the family to purchase,
or donate the bass to a museum.
That means everything,
Jaco would have been satisfied....
and I am deeply grateful for that.
