you’ll hear some of Jaco’s own words as well those of some of his many
musical friends and admirers to shed light on his wonderful career.

the music became electric and all the musical influences of the world
blended with jazz to create the Fusion Era. From 7 AM Eastern until
midnight Eastern, that’s 4 AM to 9 PM Pacific, we’ll begin each hour
with a classic piece of Jaco music on the day he would have turned
55 years old. IF IT’S FRIDAY, THIS MUST BE FUSION, and Friday
December 1 is Jaco’s Birthday and we’re celebrating!

Every Saturday is a chance to get to know the stars of Modern Jazz
a little better with WORDS & MUSIC on BEYOND JAZZ, and on Saturday,
December 2nd, we'll continue our week-long celebration of one of the
most influential artists in modern jazz history, JACO PASTORIUS, with
a special presentation titled REMEMBERING JACO! Join Russ Davis as he
talks to those who knew, admired and worked with the great bassist.
We’re talking Pat Metheny, Joe Zawinul, Herbie Hancock, Stanley Clarke,
Christian McBride and many more. We’ll even hear from Jaco himself who
will explain how he achieved his signature sound on the bass. Interview
segments followed by music begin each hour from Noon through Midnight
Eastern time (9 AM-9 PM Pacific). REMEMBERING JACO…this week’s WORDS
