MIND
Jaco & manic/depression.
Jaco was diagnosed with this clinical bi-polar condition in the
fall of 1982.
The events which led up to it were considered "uncontrolled and reckless" incidences.
Before I share my take on this chemical imbalance in relation to Jaco,
it is necessary to impress upon you that none of what is discussed here
is in any way medically factual,
and is by no means a basis for anyone's personal diagnosis
of this or any other condition.
I hereby also respectfully dedicate this page to all of you who
are dealing with anything remotely related
to such inner conflicts and struggles.
Read my synopsis of what events led to the evaluation of Jaco's illness here
"daddy, just daddy" written by Jaco's first born, Mary Pastorius Young.
Ken Gemmer, who knew Jaco when both were young, and
who has a Masters Degree in Social Work as well as
worked in crisis intervention settings for six years
shares his thoughts, and posts an article here.
Manic Depression
Manic depression is touching my soul
I know what I want but I just don't know
How to go about gettin' it
Feeling sweet feeling,
Drops from my fingers, fingers
Manic depression is catchin' my soul
Woman so weary, the sweet cause in vain
You make love, you break love
It's all the same
When it's, when it's over, baby
Music, sweet music
I wish I could caress, caress, caress
Manic depression is a frustrating mess
Well, I think I'll go turn myself off,
And go on down
All the way down
Really ain't no use in me hanging around
Your kinda scene
Music, sweet music
I wish I could caress and kiss, kiss
Manic depression is a frustrating mess
