Contrary to what is said, Jaco wrote Portrait of Tracy
in completion before he went into the studio with Bobby Colomby to record for his first solo album. Here is what he did before he went into the studio.
Jaco solo, "Stella By Starlight".
Gregory C. Shively says: "the solo was a regular feature when
Jaco backed Lou Rawls at the Sheik's supper club in Lakeland.
I was standing right next to him on stage as the guitarist.
I miss Jaco very much. He taught me more backstage
than I've learned in 35 yrs. of playing. He could play
guitar better than most of us who worked with him"
Julius Pastorius' creation, a flash-intro, can be found here,
and on the first page as well.
The song is "Sunday" from Michel Colombier's 1979 album "Chrysalis". Jaco on da bass.
