WAIT!! Please....
I know I don't need to stand up for the Pastorius kids, for they can hold their own,
and perhaps I shouldn't, because this thread is all about pushing buttons....
and we all know, best not to respond to those...
..but let's get this back in perspective...
First of all, this site, and its corporation has been created by the four children...
Not only have they been dealing, still, with the loss of their father, but also with
many having ripped them off in the last 15 years. This business is all new to them,
but one has to remember that it was set up to do the right thing for Jaco's legacy,
as well as creating an income that would be due Jaco were he alive, in addition to
not be beaten by those who are using Jaco's name to make their own wealth without
paying "the artist", such as Sasabe/Soundhill, and Jazzpoint, DWI..
and a few others..(but not Big World Music, he is cool :-)
I agree that things aren't run as smoothly as they could and should at times,
and I agree that the Bobbing project has been a pain to deal with...
it sure has been a process of learning, and erring..
Remastering, and releasing is not as simple as one thinks..
a lot is involved with that, AND it takes money,
...even though Jaco is the greatest, he was not a rich man,
the income generated is not huge..
Hopefully that will all change with the music books, and Bob's release..
so that they can start working on putting out more... does that make sense?
As I have said before, regardless whether we disagree with Bob's timing, and methods..
this release is his work, or "baby" so to speak..If it wasn't for his efforts, largely,
with the help of many who trust him, we would not have this product to look forward to...
Basically, he's trying to raise this "child" as best as he can, and surely not without erring..
We will all see how well he did, once he lets go of it, and pushes it into the world..
...and actually, this has been more like an 8 year wait for some..
though since the onset so many wonderful things have been added...
yet I agree, at this point I do believe enough is enough...
there is such a thing as overdoing it. BUT, who am I or anyone to say...
it is not my, or anyone else's project... Of course, the issue here
is that people are tired of hearing "the mantra" (LOL) 'soon', 'soon'....
but in the end, does it really matter? Isn't it about
hearing Jaco when he was young and sooooo talented?
I do fully understand those who now say, "forget it, I am not buying it anymore",
or.. "if the bootleg is out, I am getting that"..I believe those statements are
made out of pure frustration, and the responsibility for such a reaction does
lie with the makers..All we can do is hope that there will be forgiveness...
and that also goes for those who call others with opinions "****weasels"
I am not the most well-liked person by the family, for we have had many artisitic differences..
except with 2 of Jaco's 4 heirs..they love me :O), but I must disagree, bootleggers are not
"the only ones keeping Jaco's legacy alive", as a matter of fact, some are even bringing it down
...badly...(though my site might even be considered a "bootleg" by some members LOL).
Examples of many non- bootleggers keeping his legacy not only alive, but also in the most
positive light are Tom Stroud, Modeste, most traders I know..well, there are many many more
listed on my site, which is created out of pure love, with the help of a benefactor.
BTW The children and the heirs to Jaco's legacy were all under the age of 18 when their father passed...
and surely would have done anything and everything to have helped the man they loved, adored, and respected.
Be well!
Ingrid
