Jaco Pics  Other Pics







David Blair, number 29, wrote an email dated July 13, 2007 with the following information:
"The name of the youth football team was the Oakland Park Rebels 120lb team.
The picture was taken in 1965 and I remember those guys like it was yesterday.
I am standing to Jaco's right as you face the picture. My brother Jim and I also
delivered the Fort Lauderdale News with Jaco and Gregory out of a warehouse in
Oakland Park. Everybody was in to small motorcycles back then, Honda S-90 and
the like. I think Greg had a Honda 65 and he and I use to "ride the trails of
Lauderdale" back then. Jaco had a bad accident while riding with my brother off
road. My brother was able to get medical attention and may have actually saved
Jaco's life then. Anyway, just wanted to drop you a note and tell you Jaco was
one the on the most brilliant and effervescent people I ever remember from my
childhood. Always fun to be around and his friendliness was almost overwhelming.."

Thank you, David! And I also want to add that there is now a Jaco Pastorius Park in Oakland Park!
