I don't post on sites, but after this chat line was brought to my attention,
I was literally shocked at what I saw. Totally unwarranted malicious attacks about
something that I know to be absolutely pure. Im talking about Bob Bobbing's project.
That's right! Portrait of Jaco! Tell me, who could possibly have a reason
to be so hateful, and bitter, even envious about a record release?
This whole thing smells! And I don't think that any true fan of Jaco's would come
on this site and attempt to drag such an incredibly important project through the mud.
These people obviously have negative personalities and ulterior motives.
There are definitely hidden agendas here. Who else would make fact-less speculations
in an attempt to undermine a project that everybody knows is going to be
absolutely magnificent... It doesn't make sense. And how can any of you bash Bob?
First of all, he's the guy who hung with Jaco and made all of these recordings!
I was there during this same period. I didn't think to record anything. Nobody did!
That's what is so important and unique about this stuff. Where can you find anything
that resembles what Bob has done here? Where are Miles Davis's formative recordings,
or the evolutionary recordings of John Coltrane? How about an early years musical
anthology of Jimi Hendrix? That would be something wouldn't it? Oh! And I would love
to hear the complete early years of Charlie Parker! What Bob has done here is
actually amazing. And the fact that he has gone the extra miles to include additional
classic music and interviews should be considered a bonus! In reality, he's giving each
and every one of us a gift! If Jaco fans are involved here, I have never seen such ungratefulness.
I have known both Bob Bobbing and Jaco since 1967, and I also know everything there is to know
about Bob's project. Aside from the fact that I am performing along side Jaco on several of the
recordings, I have witnessed every step of the project's evolution, and have spent countless
hours together with Bob discussing the various possibilities for its direction and content.
I would be glad to set the record straight.
If you have something meaningful to say, and have the courage to post it under your own name
and be accountable for your comments, then lets hear it. Otherwise, keep it to yourself. And if
everybody knows so much, then why haven't I read anything here about all of the good things
I know Bob has already done. What about the fact that he is giving Jaco's children an incredibly
high royalty! Or that he was totally responsible for getting Jaco's Fender guitar endorsement
and the music book deal with Hal Leonard! I happen to know that both of these deals brought
cash advances to Jaco's children. And these are only some of the things I know Bob has done
on Jaco's family's behalf, which makes me wonder, why aren't they speaking out in Bob's defense!
But most of all, where are all of Jaco's true fans when this kind of nonsense appears? Actually,
after thinking about it, I don't think any quality musician would come here to small talk like
this anyway. Could you imagine Jaco participating in any of this kind of nonsense? Never!
I personally believe that Jaco is somehow helping Bob, and that he is guiding the project.
Too many incredible things have happened to just be coincidental. And as far as Bob is
concerned, I can tell you unequivocally that his goal for this project has always
been excellence, and I am proud to be a small part of it.
