The seller, Ritchie Williams, listed it on eBay.com with the following information:

"Description: Title - Methods for Double Bass, (C)1904, 4th edition, Carl Ficher, New York.
This book has been rebinded in a groovy, orange, textured naugahyde (okay, it was the 70's!).
As the book is very old, the pages have started to yellow and have some tears in them. Also
included in this bid is a hand-drawn bass guitar/violin neck showing the various positions,
and notes. This was drawn while in Jaco's posession.

History: I acquired this book while living in Miami during the early 70's. My older brother,
Greg, was drumming at that time with a band called Tommy Strand and the Upper Hand. Jaco
was the bass player. Mr. Pastorius was also attending the University of Miami's school of
Jazz Studies. One afternoon, I was playing bass guitar with my garage band and Jaco came
by to see my brother. Seeing that we were kindred spirits, Jaco left me this book for me
to study and learn as he once did."

The new owner, bassist/vocalist Jonathan Grooms, promises, when the time is right,
to return it to the Pastorius kids sometime in the future.
