Colin James plays saxophone and keys in nearly all styles of music and in any setting.

Colin started taking piano lessons at age 5, and by age 8 was competing playing classical compositions. At age 13 he picked up the saxophone for the school band, taught himself, and was introduced to jazz at age 14 when he was in a county jazz band where Ed Calle was the clinician. Soon after he went on to perform with Calle at Hollywood Jazz, and the Riverfront. At 17 Colin transferred to Stranahan High, where he became exposed to more jazz as well as gospel music by some very talented musicians. He has performed in high school with a jazz combo as well as state award winning big band. Right after he graduated in June of 2002 he met young bassist Felix Pastorius at one of Pastorius' gigs with Bobby Thomas Jr. They hooked up, became friends, and now have a band together with Felix's brother Julius Pastorius on drums, and another young musician friend, Adam Lucas on guitar.
